The Garden
This album contains a collection of photographs taken at the National
Orchid Garden in Singapore and, in a few cases, at a nursery in
Bangkok.
Why orchids and other flowers?
When I was traveling around the world for work, friends who grew
orchids requested that I try and get some pictures when I visited
countries where they were native.  I visited a nursery on a 1999 visit to
Bangkok and took about fifty pictures.  I emailed some to friends and
the response was so great that flowers were in demand whenever I
traveled.
Taking flower pictures
To take good close ups of flowers you need a camera which has an
outstanding macro capability.  The images you see here were taken
with three different cameras, a Sony 707, Sony F828, and a Nikon D70.

The National Orchid Garden in Singapore
contains over 60,000 different plants and
over 400 species.   The Garden is located
on the highest point in the Singapore
Botanical Garden.  I have been lucky
enough to visit the park twice, most
recently on January 4, 2005.
