The Roosevelt Gate at the North Entrance marks the original entrance into Yellowstone National Park. Today there are four other entrances, West, South, East, and Northeast. The Gate is near Gardiner, Montana, just north of Mammoth Hot Springs.

Undine Falls is located on the highway between Mammoth Hot Springs and the Lamar Valley. This highway is the only one in the park which is open during the winter since it is the only access road to Cook City, Montana. You can still see some of the damage from the fire in 1988 which covered most of the park.

Calcite Hill is located on the road between Tower Junction and the Tower Falls. It is the only part of the road to Canyon Village open at this time.

This is a view of the canyon of the Yellowstone south of Tower and just north of Tower Falls. The road between Tower Junction and Canyon Village has been closed for repair on all my visits to the park.

Tower Falls is 132 feet high and is named for the volcanic peaks in the area. The falls are a major attraction located about three miles south of Tower Junction on the road to Canyon Village. This road is closed to through traffic until 2006.

Blue Star Spring is one of several deep springs located in the West Thumb area. This area is named because it is on the west thumb of Lake Yellowstone. If you come in from the south and the Tetons it is the first major attraction you see.

The East Entrance is the newest and steepest path into the park. You go over 8000 foot passes and eventually arrive in Cody, Wyoming.
